Be Strong in the Lord part 7

Ephesians 6:17a
Take the helmet of salvation

“Verb” sentences, ones that begin with verbs, can be both thrilling and terrifying in God’s Word.  They require action.  Take the helmet of salvation means that before anything else happens, we have to do something.

Luke 19:10
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Jesus had a reason for coming to us and offering us salvation.  We were lost.  One of our sons got involved with Ground Search & Rescue for a little while.  We used to receive phone calls at all hours of the day and night looking for help.  Someone was lost, they were hurting, their lives were in jeopardy.  That is why Jesus came.  We were lost, hurting and our eternity in jeopardy.  Because of sin, there was no way we could make things right with God.  In our own strength, we were condemned.

 Exodus 15:2
“The LORD is my strength and my defense ; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Trusting Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and saviour is the ONLY way for me to have security and hope for the future.  God established Jesus as my salvation from sin.  How does it work?  I need to confess that I am a sinner, I need to acknowledge that He is God.  I need to understand that He died on a cross for my sins, rose again and has gone to Heaven to prepare a place for me.  While I wait for Him to return, I need to trust Him with my life and daily live to bring glory to His name.  I don’t need to be perfect.  I don’t need to be rich.  I don’t need anything other than to trust in Him and He will provide all of my needs.

I thought about a lot of different things that could be said about salvation, but I as I read through the Scriptures referencing salvation, I thought that I’d rather share those.  Please take the time to read through them.  God loves you so much!  His greatest desire is that you would choose to love Him too so that you can spend eternity together.

Psalm 13:5
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.

Psalm 18:2
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 27:1
Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 37:39
The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD;

Psalm 51:12
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Psalm 95:1
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

Psalm 98:2
The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.

Jonah 2:9
But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the LORD.’”

Acts 4:12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes

1 Thessalonians 5:9
For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 9:28
so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Revelation 19:1
After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
