Admission Requirements for high school applicants from each province follow:

Nova Scotia

Bachelor of Arts:

  • English 12 academic

  • Four additional academic 12 courses

Bachelor of Commerce:

  • English 12 academic

  • Math 11 & Math 12 or Advanced Math 11 & 12 or Pre Calculus 12 or Calculus 12

  • Three additional academic 12 courses

Bachelor of Science:

  • English 12 academic

  • Pre-Calculus 12 or Calculus 12

  • Two academic 12 science courses

  • One additional academic 12 course

Engineering:

  • English 12 academic

  • Pre-Calculus 12 or Calculus 12

  • Physics 12

  • Chemistry 12

  • One additional academic 12 course

 

New Brunswick   Grade 12

Bachelor of Arts:

  • English 121 or 122

  • Four additional academic 12 courses

Bachelor of Commerce:

  • English 121 or 122

  • Geometry & Applications in Mathematics 111 or 112 & Functions & Relations 111 or 112; or Trigonometry and 3 space 121 or 122; or Advanced Mathematics with an Introduction to Calculus 120

  • Three additional academic 12 courses

Bachelor of Science:

  • English 121 or 122

  • Advanced Mathematics with an Introduction to Calculus 120

  • Two academic 12 science courses
  • One additional academic 12 course

Engineering:

  • English 121 or 122

  • Advanced Mathematics with an Introduction to Calculus 120

  • Physics 121 or 122

  • Chemistry 121 or 122

For Homeschoolers:

  • The Director of Admissions reviews each case individually. Most applicants are deemed acceptable for admission. SMU encourages that the parents and the student meet with the Director of Admissions to review the completed homeschooling curriculum together.
  • Acceptable equivalencies own their include – NS grade 12, any other grade provincial grade 12 diploma, A levels
  • IB with a score of 5 or higher can be used for advanced standing
  • AP with a score of 4 and 5 can be used for advanced standing
  • SAT not a substitute for grade 12
